When To Try A Light Stim for Acne
A light stimulation has been a staple in the treatment of acne for a while.
And according to some researchers, a light treatment may be just what’s needed to help you shed your dark spots.
“We know there are many things we can do to help improve skin health.
A good way to start is to look at a light stimulus that you can use to reduce the appearance of your dark spot,” said Elizabeth Miller, M.D., co-founder of the Acne Care Foundation.
Miller told the Wall Street Review that there are a few things to keep in mind.
“One is to make sure the light is on and not dimming it, or setting it on a timer.
So if you have the lights on, it doesn’t have to be on for a long time,” Miller said.
Miller says a light therapy for acne should last at least 30 minutes and be applied over at least four hours.
A few different types of light therapy have been used in the past.
One study showed that the treatment was more effective than a topical retinoid cream, a topical cream that contains a mixture of water and vitamin E. Another study showed the treatment helped with scarring in areas that had dark spots in the previous day.
The AcneCare Foundation has a product called the Light Stim that uses light to stimulate your skin’s dark spots, while the Acme Cosmetics Foundation uses a combination of a light bulb and light source.
“You want to apply the lightest light you can get your hands on,” Miller explained.
“If you’re using a lightbulb, you’re going to get a light on for the duration of the treatment.
You want to use the light source to increase the amount of light you’re getting.”
It can take several hours to see results, but you may want to keep trying until your dark patches are gone.
If you do decide to try a light stimulation, Miller said it’s important to take your time.
“Don’t rush it.
Just get in a routine,” Miller advised.
You can try different light bulbs in a variety of different colors.
She also recommends that you use a different light bulb for each type of light treatment you’re trying.
“Some people are sensitive to light bulbs,” Miller added.
“They don’t like light that’s bright or that’s too bright, so they might not be comfortable using a bright light bulb.
You might want to try one of the colors that are darker, like a yellow light bulb or a green light bulb.”
In addition, Miller recommends that if you want to be safe, avoid using products containing alcohol, as alcohol can interfere with the light treatment.
It’s also important to get tested for a drug allergy before starting any type of treatment.
If your skin has dark spots that are starting to grow, it might be worth checking with your dermatologist before you start a light treatments.
“It’s important that your dermatologists tell you if it’s safe to start a treatment,” Miller noted.
“In the meantime, try to keep using light treatment for as long as you can, even if it means a longer treatment,” she said.
And finally, Miller says that a light massage will help you get the most out of the light stimulation.
“Light is very powerful.
You have to massage it well.
You don’t have a lot of control over it,” she advised.
